Bear Season

Not all who live in the country are cuddly,  but most would rather keep
their distance from us. I've seen a young male bear looking for
his own turf (mom kicks them out at about 2 years old) checking out
our road and driveway. I think he decided to head out further.
But there are lots of invisible creature neighbors out her.

  1. The animals in your painting are all cute, but you are right, I wouldn't want any of them getting too close. Maybe the owl, but even it could snatch our little dogs away I suppose. Glad your neighbor bear moved on down the road. Still, your painted bears are definitely cute while also realistic.

  2. We often hear on the news that a bear strayed into
someone's lawn or pool. Usually there's construction
nearby. We live on a peninsula surrounded by big
rivers so when the land is taken bears are pushed off.

Lots of space west of us. Soon they won't be here.
    Sad.

    1. Love to know that...that you live between big rivers

    2. I feel the same when you tell us about your
land. We become part of our land.

  3. My heart would jump if I saw a bear. I love your folksy painting Patty.

    1. Well, I jumped when I saw one near our gate!
Called the game warden and he laughed, saying
'you live in bear country'. I look at your
paintings daily on my wall. Thanks!
