A good, good dog

Opie has left us.
Our hearts hurt.
He was a good, good dog.
Lucky us to  have lived with  him for 14 years.

  1. Their leaving our sides makes my heart hurt too. No matter how long we have with them, it's never long enough. Such a beautiful boy. My long-haired weenie left us over a year and a half ago. I don't think my heart will ever heal from his crossing the Bridge. Quilted hugs to you.

    1. Thank you, Angie. He had heart disease and our vet helped
us have more time with him, bless her. This is my first day without him constantly by my side. I can look out my
studio window and see his grave. So many tears.

  2. So sorry for your loss. Losing our dogs can sometimes be more painful than losing a loved human. I think it is because many of us spend pretty much all day with our pets close at hand, so their presence is sorely missed. I hope Opie didn't go hard and that you were with him, comforting him. Yes, lucky to have been with him for 14 years. I guess we accept this deal when we get our pets, but they are worth it. Still, I'm very sorry for your pain now.

  3. You're right, I spent many a day with my dog. My condition
and age makes me worry he may be my last dog. In Staunton,
Va they train dogs to help Parkinson's people. Opie was
held every one of his last hours. It was hard for him.
Every hour I see a reminder of him. Good dog.
