What I've learned about felting

Supervisor
-Thrift stores are the best sources for wool sweaters.
-Wool blends will felt if the blend is at least 85% wool.
-Remove seams, tags, zippers, buttons and cuffs away for flat, non distorted felt.
-Wash like colors in hot water with a high agitation cycle.
-I dry as well with heat for more dense felt.
-Small dogs make motivated supervisors of pre felting sorting.

  1. Tell me more. Felting is next on my list of projects to try. What do you do with your sweaters and such once you've felted them?

  2. I've been making felt collage hats (like in the previous post...). I've also made dog sweaters
by sewing pieces together. This may be why my little guy loves the pile of sweaters!

  3. Thank you for your tutorial ...I too have been collecting thrift store sweaters to give them a rebirth into possible purses...it all looks like a delightful experiment. Merry Christmas. Peace, Mary Helen

  4. My next project with the felt will be purses. Why don't you post photos of what you come up with? I'll do the same when we get home from family celebrations.
